Elijah Educational Network celebrates UN Interfaith Harmony Week
Graduatess of the Elijah Interreligious Dialogue Training Seminar in Amritsar celebrated UN Interfaith Harmony Week in various locations. Three examples of their activities follow:
Local graduates of the Amritsar Training Seminar met at Guru Nanak Dev University for
a celebration of UN Interfaith Harmony Week, led by Dr Balwant Dhillon. The event included discussion and joint prayer and was well attended by graduates and their fellow students who are interested in moving forward in interreligious study and dialogue.
Graduates from the Pune region met for an interreligious meeting at the campus of
University of Pune, bringing with them students from their various institutions to share in this inaugural event. The experience was very positive. Participants engaged in an informal sharing of their faith journeys and it was an interesting and novel way of engaging. Eighteen people attended, about half being Christian Brothers who were brought along by their teacher and Elijah graduate, Father Robin Seelan. He was joined by Amritsar colleagues Sudha Pandit and Krantigeeta Bhosale, who also brought a group of students.
Hamid Naseem Rafiabadi, Professor in Department of Islamic Studies, Kashmir
University has received the silver jubilee award of Zoroastrian College Mumbai. The College affiliated to International Open Peace University of UNO, awarded Prof. Naseem for his academic achievements, service to society and creating better interfaith relations. Hamid joined with fellow Amritsar graduate, Dr Afroz Ahmad Bisati, to lead an interfaith meeting in Kashmir to mark Interfaith Harmony Week.
