A Bibliodrama experience: Abraham’s Sacrifice of His Son
In honor of Sheikh Ghassan Manasra
The story of Abraham’s willingness to sacrifice his son is pivotal in Judaism, Christianity and Islam and is particularly poignant and pertinent to people of all faiths. We will delve into an exploration of this text through Bibliodrama.
Bibliodrama invites participants to enter into the narrative of sacred text to discover and grapple with the experiential nuances in real-time. Through a dynamic group process the text is jointly analyzed, remixed and personalized which results in a deep and personal exegesis. It is an ideal methodology for us to come together over one of the most challenging stories in our canons and to discover what we all can learn from the text and from each other.
Sheikh Ghassan Manasra is the director of the Islamic Cultural Center in Nazareth, a center promoting tolerance and interfaith dialogue.
