Venerable Geshe Tashi Tsering, India
Geshe Tashi Tsering is a Tibetan Lama who holds the Lharampa Geshse degree (the equivalent of a PhD) from Seramay Monastic University in South India. In 1991, the Office of His Holiness the Dalai Lama asked him to take up a three-year appointment at Nalanda Monastery in France to teach advanced level Tibetan Buddhist philosophy to Western students. Since 1994, Geshe Tashi has been based at the Jamyang Buddhist Centre in London, where he is renowned for his warmth, humour and ability to make the most profound Tibetan Buddhist philosophical teachings accessible to students. Geshe Tsering represented the Dalai Lama in the First Meeting of World Religious Leaders in Seville (2003), and in the Fourth Meeting, in Haifa and Galilee (2009).
A Buddhist monk, Venerable Sanghasena founded the Mahabodhi International Meditation Centre(MIMC) in Ladakh. Since then, he has worked tirelessly to put the Buddha’s teachings on loving kindness and compassion into action. He has been awarded the “National Award for the Welfare of People with Disabilities” by the Indian Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment. Ven. Sanghasena attended the Third Meeting of World Religious Leaders in Amritsar (2007) and the Fourth Meeting in Haifa and Galilee (2009).
