History of the Elijah Educational Network

We have become increasingly aware of how so much of interfaith encounter, as practiced on the communal level, resorts to the lowest common denominator, often lacking focus and depth and above all - lacking a sustained program for study and mutual engagement. Various community interfaith councils, as well as interfaith organizations addressing practical concerns through collaboration, advocacy and the likes - repeatedly express the need for guidance and direction in their work. Furthermore, they lack quality study materials that will provide the kind of depth to their ongoing activity that is traditionally associated with the religions, in whose names these organizations come together.

In an attempt to address these needs and to broaden the impact of the established structures of the Elijah Interfaith Institute, the Elijah Educational Network has been developed. It is there to serve others, to deepen their mission and to create a culture of study and understanding where the goodwill for dialogue and collaboration already exist. It is also a means for creating new alliances between religious communities of different faith persuasions, linking, for example, local churches, synagogues, mosques etc. through a common study program.
